I started Big Data Tales because I wanted to make good financial thinking accessible. I wanted to combine what I learned as an anthropologist about how people make decisions and what I learned in finance about how to make numbers tell the truth in a compelling way.
The idea was simple, even if the execution wasn't. Most of the businesses that need this kind of thinking the most have no resources to access them.
Big enterprises have CFOs, robust analytics teams, and consultants on retainer. The founder running a real company on a thin budget, the growing nonprofit CEO, and the small business owner are left to figure it all out alone.
Big Data Tales is my attempt to close that gap, in the way I can sustainably close it: through writing, toolkits, and the occasional conversation.
