About Me

Close-up portrait of a woman with brown hair and a beige turtleneck sweater.

I'm Angie. I am an anthropologist who ended up in finance, and it turned out to be the most human field I've ever worked in!

After two decades turning numbers into decisions for startups, nonprofits, and enterprises, I built Big Data Tales for the people who need it most: small business owners running real companies without a CFO in the room.

I originally launched it as a consulting firm. The timing wasn't right, so I took a full time role and let the firm sit quietly while I figured out what to do with it.

After several months, I realized I was never going to be ready to shut it down.  Instead of closing the door, I reimagined the concept into something that fits this season of my life: a small publishing project rooted in the work I love.

The writing was always my favorite part! I'll keep doing a lot of that! Little by little I plan to turn it into a collection of articles, toolkits, resources, and I might even support occasional consulting projects if the fit is right. It's a slower, more sustainable way to contribute to my field, and the most honest version of what I always wanted Big Data Tales to be.

It was never about being a big brand or a firm. I just wanted it to be useful to people building something real!

The mission hasn't changed!

I still believe small businesses are the foundation of healthy communities.

I still believe diverse voices make better decisions.

I still believe working mothers like me deserve flexible, meaningful careers.

I still believe finance should serve people, not intimidate them.

Big Data Tales still exists to make good financial thinking accessible to the people who need it most. Whether that shows up as a free article, an affordable toolkit, or a quiet advisory conversation. That's the work!
